Distribution of Mitochondrial DNA Macrohaplogroup N in India with Special Reference to Haplogroup R and its Sub-Haplogroup U
نویسندگان
چکیده
Indian populations show mitochondrial DNA macrohaplogroups M and N. Among the various haplogroups of N, haplogroup R and its sub-haplogroup U are predominant among the diverse populations. An overview of about 130 studied populations reveals wide diversity of haplogroup R and its sub-haplogroup U among varied ethnic status and different linguistic families. The various lineages of macrohaplogroup N observed in India shows least affiliation with respect to language, geography or ethnicity. However, between the regions, there is a wide variation of subhaplogroups of R and U; western region among the castes and southern region among the tribes show higher haplogroup diversity than the other regions.

Molecular Diversity of Mitochondrial DNA in Iranian Azeri Ethnicities vis-Ã -vis Other Azeris in Asia
In order to investigate the molecular diversity of mtDNA in Azeri population, 133 Azeri subjects inhabitingdifferent regions of Azerbaijan (Iran) were selected. Blood samples were taken from these subjects formtDNA extraction. The extracted mtDNA samples were then studied by the PCR-RFLP method.Fourteen haplogroups were characterized from which 82% were identified as European ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a multiplex single base extension assay for mitochondrial DNA haplogroup typing.
AIM To provide a screening tool to reduce time and sample consumption when attempting mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroup typing. METHODS A single base primer extension assay was developed to enable typing, in a single reaction, of twelve mtDNA haplogroup specific polymorphisms. For validation purposes a total of 147 samples were tested including 73 samples successfully haplogroup typed usin...
متن کاملGeneration and Bioenergetic Profiles of Cybrids with East Asian mtDNA Haplogroups
Human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variants and haplogroups may contribute to susceptibility to various diseases and pathological conditions, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. To address this issue, we established a cytoplasmic hybrid (cybrid) system to investigate the role of mtDNA haplogroups in human disease; specifically, we examined the effects of East Asian mtDNA genetic...

PURPOSE To investigate whether different mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroups have a role on the development of pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PEG) in the Saudi Arab population. METHODS The mtDNA regulatory region and coding regions comprising mtDNA haplogroup diagnostic polymorphisms were sequenced in patients with PEG (n=94), healthy matched controls (free of PEG; n=112) and a healthy Saudi A...
متن کاملCarriers of Mitochondrial DNA Macrohaplogroup N Lineages Reached Australia around 50,000 Years Ago following a Northern Asian Route
BACKGROUND The modern human colonization of Eurasia and Australia is mostly explained by a single-out-of-Africa exit following a southern coastal route throughout Arabia and India. However, dispersal across the Levant would better explain the introgression with Neanderthals, and more than one exit would fit better with the different ancient genomic components discovered in indigenous Australian...
